Bocchi the Rock! they keep causing problems

On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Aki Hamaji, Bocchi the Rock!, a rather peculiar press release was published. It turns out that fans seem to be causing trouble at the "SHELTER" facility, a live-house located in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.

And why do they specifically visit this place? Well, it turns out that it served as the inspiration for “STARRY“, the live house that serves as the base of operations for the Kessoku Band, the band to which the protagonist Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou belongs. The production asked the fans not to congregate in the place, since they interrupt the operations of the establishment, and that, taking advantage of the fact that they are visiting, to buy a ticket to support the business

The statement wrote:
  • Thank you very much for your support of the anime “Bocchi the Rock!”. A request to all visitors to the places that served as a model for the work. Visitors are asked to be careful not to disturb live music venues, shops, neighbors and the local community. Please refrain from group visits, blocking the road, making noise, etc.
  • We would also greatly appreciate it if you would purchase a ticket and experience the show in person. Every day, your support is a source of strength. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Of course, comments like:
  • "Oh no, they've caused trouble again."
  • "I don't think it's much of a problem, maybe they were trying to break in."
  • "Well, they're only interested in anime. I highly doubt they would be interested in joining or enjoying bands they don't know."
  • "Well, I suppose that many people go at the same time and they think that they are groups. However, I'm pretty sure all those people are on their own."
  • "Well, obviously, if there are no concerts they are not going to let them in."
  • "How strange it would be to go to a live-house and not stay for the concerts".
  • "That's not something exclusive to otakus. There are people who go to restaurants to get to know the place, but they don't eat anything.
  • "Of course they would complain if the place was filled with the plague of otakus."

Synopsis Bocchi the Rock!

Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou, lonely and eager to mingle with others, spends her time playing the guitar. One fateful day, Bocchi meets outgoing drummer Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join the Kessoku Band when her guitarist, Ikuyo Kita, runs away before their first concert. Soon after, Bocchi meets his latest partner, the brilliant bassist Ryou Yamada.

Although their first performance together is mediocre, the girls are strengthened by their shared love of music, and Kita soon joins them again. Finding happiness in performing, Bocchi and her classmates put all their efforts into improving as musicians while making the most of their fleeting high school days.
