Chainsaw Man did not remove the censorship of the kiss on the Blu-ray.

Some still wonder why Japanese fans continue to buy physical packages, that is, Blu-ray/DVDs, and the main reason is the acquisition benefits that include themed items that cannot be obtained anywhere else. However, another aspect of interest in buying these expensive packages is the fact that fans want to see the series completely uncensored. And we're not talking about seeing genitals or breasts, but seeing the product that the animators really wanted to deliver, without cuts requested by TV networks, etc.

That's why when the production team of Chainsaw Man listed the release of the third Blu-ray/DVD package for March 31 in Japan, fans rushed to buy it because they expected to see a particular uncensored scene. It's the kissing scene that Himeno gives to Denji in the seventh episode. In this story, Himeno was completely drunk, so she ends up vomiting in Denji's mouth while giving him a deep first kiss.

When this scene aired on television in Japan, it had to be censored due to the rules, which prohibit the display of vomit and any other "fluid" that may make viewers uncomfortable. This same version was the one that arrived on streaming platforms in the West, so fans were hoping that the Blu-ray/DVD version would finally show them the uncensored scene.

And the surprise was, precisely that there was no change! The production team made some corrections here and there to some of the episodes, but the vomit kissing scene remains censored even in the expensive physical version. This was reported by Twitter user "井上トロ (@g6xa3awstGCEljS)", who wrote:

  •  "The vomit kissing scene is still censored with a mosaic on the Blu-ray, just as it was broadcast on television. I'm not posting comparative images of the scene in question because I don't think people would want to see them even if there was a mosaic."

In the end, it seems that Chainsaw Man fans didn't get what they were looking for even by paying MAPPA studios for the physical packages of the series. Fortunately, we remember that Twitter user "Vich (@JblenV)" took care of removing the censorship since December last year, so fans will have to resort to this option produced by a person who doesn't even describe himself as an animator.
